Daniel Cooper
From a young age I have always been fascinated by how things work; this lead to my interest in technology. Over the past 5 years I have been studying computing, with a specialised knowledge in networking as well as a strong foundation in web design, programming, database construction and computer science.
Past employment and my current internship at IBM have allowed me to gain valuable industry insight whilst developing essential business skills. I am a good communicator; holding conversation very well both face-to-face and over the phone. I also demonstrate strong written skills when constructing emails and producing documentation. Hosting conference calls and presenting to service management executives has developed my confidence, manner and tone-of-voice. I have proved responsibility, time management and organisation skills when managing my own project. Working with internal clients has taught me the importance of client focus and maintaining a strong, trusting relationships, whoever they may be with.
Upon completing my degree I endeavour to secure a leading graduate position with a reputable, well established organisation that focuses on innovation. I want to share my passion for technology and collaborate with other professionals, motivating each other towards success.

My role at IBM is to work with individuals within Service Management (SM) and help them to transform the way they deliver IT services, making each team more efficient and globally standardised. I support them throughout the transformation by offering training and knowledge of the 'GDF way' and the new processes and tools it introduces.
I manage parts of the UK GDF project myself, using planning and time management skills to construct detailed and time conscious plans. I am usually working with 4-5 different SM teams at once, so being organised is crucial.

One of my biggest hobbies is playing guitar; I love to play rock music, particularly from the 80’s. I also taught myself to design, build and setup guitars, recently selling one for a £700 profit.
I also love to cook, a passion I share with my girlfriend Helen, who is a professional pastry chef at the two michelin starred Restaurant Marcus Wareing. I’m incredibly proud of her, however we both know who makes the best spaghetti bolognese.

Article Writing
Continuing with the trend of aiding students who are applying for work opportunities I have written an article documenting a day in the life of a placement student. The article is currently under review by Sheffield Hallam University and I hope to have it published by the careers team soon.
London BUPA 10,000
Perhaps my proudest of extra curricular activities is my entry to the London BUPA 10,000, A 10km race which I am running on behalf of Alzheimers Research UK. The race is on Sunday 27th May 2012 with Fundraising efforts and training already well underway. My goal is to finish the race in under 45 minutes. I see it as an opportunity to help a well deserved cause whilst both improving my personal fitness and fulfilling my drive to set targets and work hard towards achieving them.
