Daniel Cooper

My passion for I.T evolved from interests I had as a child. I loved technology and enjoyed understanding how things worked. When I first studied in a Cisco Academy these traits were fused and I haven’t looked back since.

Over the next few months I plan to achieve my Cisco CCNA certification. I hope that when I graduate from Sheffield Hallam this combined with my networking degree, industry experience and passion for networking will make me a rounded and desirable young professional.

My long term goal is to spend the first few years in an administrator or technician role, working within a project-based team and gaining valuable hands-on practical experience. I then want to move into a management position, whether it be managing a networking/IT team, project management or consultancy. At this point in my life I am not closing any doors.

I am a competitive individual and I strive to reach the top. I want to savour a career in the IT industry and climb the ladder, starting from getting my hands dirty to wherever I may end up. The sky is the limit.

One of my biggest hobbies is playing guitar and I love rock music from the 80’s. One of the bands I love is Van Halen. I recently decided to build my own Eddie Van Halen replica guitar. I really enjoyed researching how to create the design and spent a lot of time trying to recreate it as accurately as possible.

I’m also a keen golfer. I’m no Tiger Woods but I really enjoy the challenge. When I play a great shot I get hooked and it drives me to improve, play more and recreate those shots more often.

I love to cook and it is a passion I share with my girlfriend Helen, who is a professional pastry chef at the two michelin starred Restaurant Marcus Wareing. I’m incredibly proud of her, however we both know who makes the best spaghetti bolognese.
