I am a budding young professional with a passion for Technology. I have a broad knowledge of many sectors within the industry, with specialised knowledge in networking and IT services. I have a strong set of professional and personal skills that allow me to apply myself well in the workplace, as demonstrated during my internship at IBM. I am a logical thinker and use this to my advantage when problem solving; it allows me to break down a process and think about it step-by-step. When confronted with a task or problem I have not encountered before I will approach it with initiative and try a variety of methods to reach a solution. I am an excellent communicator, presenting with confidence, clear tone and open body language. I develop professional relationships through using open and honest dialogue and a friendly phone manner, with colleagues and clients alike. These attributes make me a strong team worker who collaborates well with others. I enjoy listening to other people’s ideas and working as a team to achieve a well rounded solution. I am also not afraid to take the lead when the opportunity arises. I maintain a professional image by arriving prepared, on time and organised with an enthusiasm that makes me personable to others.

At IBM I support Service Management competencies throughout the transformation into lean and six sigma principles by offering training and knowledge of new processes and tools. These are integrated alongside the ITIL framework to make processes and functions more efficient by minimising defects, eliminating non-value add work and reducing variance, making each competency more efficient and globally standardised.

I manage parts of the project myself, using planning and time management skills to construct detailed and time conscious plans. I am usually working with 4-5 different Service Management teams at once, so being organised is crucial.

Employment

IBM
Service Management GDF Associate (June 2011 - Present)

My role at Dunster House allowed me to apply my theoretical knowledge in a live business environment. I gained valuable experience configuring servers and network equipment, managing backups and installing infrastructure. Another responsibility of mine was to provide 1st and 2nd line support to approximately 100 employees across all departments.

Dunster House Ltd
Network Administrator (Feb 2009 - Sept 2009)

I am a passionate road cyclist, often riding in excess of 100 miles a week and recently completing London-to-Brighton in 3:14:08. I am hoping to join a team soon. As well as cycling I enjoy photography, playing guitar and cooking, a passion I share with my girlfriend Helen, who is a professional pastry chef at the two michelin starred Restaurant Marcus Wareing. I’m incredibly proud of her, however we both know who makes the best paella!

Whilst working at IBM I was an active member of the Sheffield Hallam Campus team. I have planned, organised and managed IBM careers days for students at Sheffield Hallam University. This was a fantastic opportunity to give something back to both IBM and my university.

Article Writing

Continuing with the trend of aiding students who are applying for work opportunities I have written an article documenting a day in the life of a placement student. The article is currently under review by Sheffield Hallam University and I hope to have it published by the careers team soon.

Achievements

Freelance Web Design

Over the past 4 years I have designed and created a handful of websites for local trades. Professional web designers often charge too much for small local businesses, so I decided to use my design and coding skills to offer basic websites at very competitive prices.
